Letter: Footbridge coverage balanced

Dear Editor,

I was impressed at the quality of coverage / reporting on the proposed Midtown footbridge, and several other topics.

In particular, knowing how dedicated Mr. Dance is to getting such a pedestrian friendly project started, his balanced coverage, including detailed reporting of the ‘no’ side (those who don’t want it) was somewhat remarkable, given that the Mainstreeter is a small community-based newspaper. I find that too often these papers are just stuffed with self-promoting photos, boosterism and unattributed articles with no apparent zeal to cover the actual ‘hot’ issues in a community.

Even though I, too, am personally in favour of constructing such an improvement in the walkability in our inner-city neighbourhoods as this footbridge, Mr. Dance’s candid account of that meeting, which I attended serves the citizenry well, and says a lot about the Mainstreeter’s capacity to try to tell it like it is.
