The Main Event is the party of the year in Old Ottawa East, a chance to meet and mingle with friends and neighbours while enjoying live music, bouncy castles, local vendors, a BBQ and many other activities:

The Main Event Outdoor Movie Night

Friday, June 14: 9:00 p.m. or dusk, Springhurst Park, 160 Lees Ave.

The Main Event Garage Sale

Saturday, June 15, rain or shine:8:00 a.m. to noon throughout Old Ottawa East

The Main Event Community Party

Saturday, June 15, rain or shine: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., front lawns of Saint Paul University, 223 Main St. Wagon rides, children’s games, bouncy castle, music, BBQ, arts and crafts sale and more.

Main Event Garage Sale

This runs throughout Old Ottawa East, from Rideau Gardens Drive to Greenfield Avenue (including Kings Landing) and from Echo Drive to the Rideau River. Residents are welcome to participate on their own premises. Businesses are invited to set up sidewalk sales. CAG will advertise in the Pennysaver and the Ottawa Citizen, put up posters in neighboring communities andsignage on Main Street and Lees Avenue.

Vendors are responsible for additional signage directing people from these main roads to their specific sale.

Want to participate but don’t have a yard? Calvary Baptist Church is offering the use of a table on its property at 107 Main St. (corner of Main and Evelyn). To reserve a table at Calvary, please call Bob McRoberts at 613-733-5912 at any time and leave a message with your name, phone number, and the size of table you require (6- or 12-foot).

You will receive a call to confirm your booking. Tables are offered on a first-booked basis.

Arts and Crafts Sale

We know there are many talented artists and craftspeople in Old Ottawa East. If you want to be part of this year’s event, please register online or in-person at the Old Town Hall, 61 Main Street (hours: Monday to Thursday, 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Friday, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.). Registration is $25 and is open now.

Vendors must provide their own table. Items for sale must be the vendors’ own work. For more information call 613- 230-0076 or email .

This year, why not make more than an appearance at the Main Event? The Community Activities Group of Old Ottawa East (CAG) coordinates the festival with the help of community volunteers. We can’t do it without you.

So, don’t just show up this year help us out and enjoy the day with the satisfaction of having been involved in the event that ties our community together.

Businesses and organizations

If you are organizing an activity/sidewalk sale at your location in Old Ottawa East to coincide with the event, please let us know. We may be able to include it in future publicity. We are also interested in discussing ways in which you might showcase an aspect of your business/organization at the Main Event Community Party on the front lawns of Saint Paul University.
